Here's some audio of Sam trying to put himself to sleep one afternoon. This went on for close to 10 minutes and then, SUCCESS! He fell asleep - during the day! I'm pretty sure that means it was a nap, but please don't tell him. Let's not ruin a good thing.

Handy Manny

Take a look at these two pictures. One is of Sam's worker man toy that came with his dump truck. The other is a picture of Handy Manny, a favorite Disney cartoon. Out of nowhere last night, Sam picked up the toy and started calling him "Manny." This kid never fails to impress.

Water Baby

What a little water baby we have! Sam got his first introduction to a swimming pool today, and he did great! There was no crying, no clinging to my neck and no whining. Believe me, with the way this week has gone, no whining is a minor miracle – no matter where we are.

We played in the pool for over an hour. Grand worked with him, showing him how to kick, kick, kick his feet, blow bubbles in the water, and do shovels. He liked making shovels and pushing the water away. He made his “crab” sound while doing shovels, which, yes, is just another growl. I had no idea so many creatures in nature were such growlers; he’s taught me so much.

Sam is signed up for swimming lessons July 21st-25th, so we’ve got some time to work with him before that begins. What fun we have ahead of us!

What does ...

Here's our new favorite game, "What does the [insert animal] say?" It's a great way to distract him when fussy. Well, it's worked so far. I probably just jinxed myself by giving away my trick. Oh well. Enjoy!

Rain Dance

Sam loves to play in the water. The wetter he is, the happier he is. Check out this video of him playing in the rain. He was so excited to splash around, especially when we stripped him ALL the way down! This kid has no fear of outdoor nakedness.

Sam loves to sit in his swing, backwards, and wave at the cars as they go by.
