Living Room Picnic

Sam and I decided to have a picnic on Wednesday while it was snowing, and we were stuck inside. Sam invited some of his favorite guests to join us, and I had to take pictures of them. (He would tell me who to take a picture of, and then look at it on my camera before moving on to the next guest.) We've now had a picnic in the living room every day since that original one. He loved it!

Here's Sam telling me he's ready "to go to work in Granddaddy's truck." Note he has his grocery bag and keys in hand. He was quite serious.

And Manny had to go to work too.

Kitchen Chores

A little video of Sam helping us unload the dishwasher the other morning. Ash apologizes for shooting it the wrong way. Sorry!

President Obama

Sam liked watching the Presidential Inauguration on Tuesday. Of course, it's the first day in his life the tv has been on from the moment he got up to when he went to bed, so I think that made quite an impression on him. He can tell you the President's name and recognize a picture of Obama when he sees one. He sat on the couch with me while I told him about the Supreme Court Justices; he listened to Yo-Yo Ma and all the other musicians; he yelled "Girls!" when Sasha and Malia were on screen; he got excited when the crowds would start clapping and yelling. It was a lot of fun, but my favorite moment was the next day. Sam was walking around the living room, singing one of his favorite gibberish songs. I couldn't understand any words at all, except one - Obama. He was singing a song about Obama. Hilarious! Sam's hoping to record it and get a free trip to the White House out of it.

We're back

We're back from the little blue house, so you know what that means. Yep, lots new pictures on grandsboy.

Sam had such a great time at the beach. The weather was nice, so we were able to play at the beach almost every day - which was wonderful since Sam would start yelling "ocean! ocean!" every time he'd step outside. He walked to the ocean 2-3 times almost every day. Loved the sand and all the shells.

He was most concerned with the moon and the sun though. Countless times throughout the day Ash and I had to go through the story of the moon and sun - the sun watches the ocean during the day while the moon sleeps, then the moon watches the ocean at night while the sun sleeps. He just loved that! The things that intrigue him...

Oh and another little habit Sam picked up while we were down there - talking on his cell phone. Hilarious! He'd pull his (pretend) cell phone out of his (pretend) pocket and walk around talking on it. It was a steady stream of gibberish, then you'd hear him say "bye", followed by returning his (pretend) phone to his (pretend) pocket. We'd crack up every time he did it. Love the imagination at work!
